Frankie Frankeny   Creator of The JustMarried Project

Author of LOVE: The Heroic Stories of Marriage Equality

Director Photographer • Advocate • TED-style Speaker

A Voice for LOVE, Belonging, and the Freedom to Marry

For more than two decades, I have photographed, interviewed, and walked alongside the LGBTQ+ couples, activists, families, and allies who helped transform marriage equality in America. My work — including the 368-page large-format Rizzoli book LOVE: The Heroic Stories of Marriage Equality — captures seventy years of bravery, joy, and resilience across our community.

Today, I speak across the country about marriage equality, LGBTQ+ history, belonging, storytelling as a tool for freedom, and the quiet violence of exclusion — a theme at the heart of my TED-style talks and my upcoming docuseries and global special, LOVE & PRIDE.

My mission is simple:
To illuminate the path forward through stories — because LOVE is the most powerful force in the universe.

Keynote Topics

The Heroic Stories of Marriage Equality

A sweeping, emotional journey through the couples, cases, and courage that transformed American law and culture — from Jack Baker & Michael McConnell to Edie Windsor, Richard & Tony, the Goodridge plaintiffs, and the families still fighting today.

The Quiet Violence of Exclusion

How invisibility harms—and how representation, storytelling, and belonging restore dignity.

Based on the core principles of The JustMarried Project and my narrative “source code.”

Be a Story for Somebody Else

A moving, motivational talk on the power of sharing who we are — especially during times of political backlash, book bans, and renewed threats to LGBTQ+ rights.

From Fear to Fierce: Protecting LOVE Today

A practical, inspiring look at how communities can protect hard-won freedoms and empower LGBTQ+ youth and families by ensuring our stories never disappear again.

The Art of Storytelling for Social Change

How to turn personal history into collective impact — rooted in photography, narrative craft, and decades of LGBTQ+ documentation.
